Madrid, 13 (AP) - Alexander Wykeham Ellis, British ambassador in Lisbon in 2007, admitted to his U.S. counterpart in the Portuguese capital, Alfred Hoffman, who had been the British police to find evidence against Madeleine's parents, according a confidential telegram.

The telegram, published today by the Spanish newspaper El Pais, is dated September 28, 2007 and refers to a meeting between the two diplomats held in Lisbon on September 21.

Among several other issues, including Russia and Zimbabwe, diplomats discussed the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in the Algarve in May of that year, at a time when it had great media attention on the subject.

Madrid, 13 dez (Lusa) -- Alexander Wykeham Ellis, embaixador inglês em Lisboa em 2007, admitiu ao seu homólogo norte-americano na capital portuguesa, Alfredo Hoffman, que tinha sido a polícia inglesa a encontrar provas contra os pais de Madeleine, segundo um telegrama confidencial.

O telegrama, hoje divulgado pelo jornal espanhol El País, é datado de 28 de setembro de 2007 e refere-se a um encontro entre os dois diplomatas que decorreu em Lisboa a 21 de setembro.

Entre vários outros temas, incluindo a Rússia e o Zimbabué, os diplomatas discutiram o desaparecimento de Madeleine McCann, no Algarve, em maio desse ano, numa altura em que se mantinha grande atenção mediática sobre o assunto.

O jornal El País refere que este é o único telegrama -- do leque de 250 mil obtidos pela organização WikiLeaks -- que menciona o caso do desaparecimento de Madeleine da Praia da Luz.
